Blackened is a coffee shop located inside a local music venue with a strong in-person presence but no dedicated website. I intentionally selected the brand as a project opportunity after identifying a clear gap in their digital presence and local discoverability. The goal of this project was to create a website that captures Blackened’s unique blend of coffee culture and live music while giving customers clear, accessible information about hours, location, and offerings.
the problem
While Blackened maintains an active presence on Instagram as their primary digital touchpoint, they lacked a dedicated website and had minimal visibility in search results due to limited local SEO. This made it difficult for potential customers to find reliable information like location, hours, or offerings, restricting discoverability beyond existing foot traffic and social media followers.
the process
I began by researching the brand through their Instagram presence to understand their visual identity, tone, and audience. From there, I developed a UI style direction in Figma to establish the overall look and feel. Once the design foundation was set, I built the full website in Framer, translating the visual direction into an interactive, responsive experience.
the solution
I designed and developed a fully realized website concept that gives Blackened a strong digital foundation. The site is structured to improve discoverability, clearly communicate essential information, and visually reflect the brand’s connection to music culture and community. Built to be launch-ready, the website provides a scalable starting point for establishing an online presence and strengthening the shop’s visibility beyond in-person traffic.
